What is a Genuine Leader?

Today - more than ever, we need leaders who are not simply concerned about their own welfare.  Today, we need genuine leaders who understand the meaning of respect.  We need leaders who care.  The people who work for and with them and the clients and customers who interact with them, will demand it.

So what is a genuine leader?  We believe that a genuine leader is someone who leads by example and has values to follow that will inspire others to emulate them. They recognize first and foremost, "that if you lose your values while acquiring it all, when you have it all, you will ultimately lose it all."1

A genuine leader is someone who truly has the qualities that they project to others.  These qualities or values, define who they are and how they live their lives. They respect themselves and others and genuinely care about those they lead and interact with.  They are real and others see that they are real.  They strive to create win/win situations when interacting with others because to do otherwise, would be unnatural to them.  They are aware of what truly motivates people and understand the correlation between respect and results, compassion and motivation. 

A genuine leader is a masterful communicator who inspires people to listen and willingly, act.   Committed to being the best they can possibly be, they project the essence of who they are from the inside-out. They have executive presence and exude self-respect, self-confidence and self-worth.

Genuine leadership then, from our perspective, is not about leading others.  It is about how one leads oneself. It is a way of being and most importantly, a way of living."
